JUSTIFYING SIN

We tend to justify sin, even when it demonstrates a blatant disregard for doing what is right in God's eyes. If we think there is a good reason for what we've done, we mistakenly assume it can't be that sinful. 'The end justifies the means' is what we've learned ... it doesn’t matter how we get there, as long as our intent was 'honorable'.

Or, we may believe that since God has already saved us, that grace gives us a 'free pass' when it comes to recalcitrant behavior. This too is a lie.

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?  Romans 6:1–2

Through the shed blood of Calvary's cross, God freed us from sin's grip. We are in the process of being transformed into Christ's likeness through sanctification. Therefore ... justifying sin goes against the truth found in Jesus' redemptive act.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:1-2

We are called to repent of sin ... not justify or embrace it.
