THE TRANSPARENT CHRISTIAN

When a person is described as 'transparent', he is unpretentious. Honest with himself and those around him, he allows his vulnerability to show and doesn't mask what is going on in his life.

A 'transparent' Christian is relatable and therefore approachable to people seeking God. He is an encourager to fellow believers and a beacon to those outside of the faith. His pilgrimage is an open book so the world can witness Jesus at work in his personal journey of faith.

By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 1 John 3:16

Not only is he candid with all those who cross his path ... he seeks to be transparent with his God. When he has sinned, he tells the Lord. When he is feeling alone and spiritually low, he tells the Lord. When he faces temptation, he tells the Lord. When the difficulties of life overwhelm him, he tells the Lord.

Let us, therefore, come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.  Hebrews 4:16

He trusts that his Heavenly Father is merciful and loving ... that His ear is open to the pilgrim's cry. A 'transparent' believer prays without ceasing, for he knows his human weakness and from where the strength to endure emanates.

My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9

The truly 'transparent' man remembers what he was like without Christ and humbly surrenders any of his remaining 'opaqueness' ... that he might be used as a light in this lost and dying world.
