OUR CITIZENSHIP

Non-Christians are unwitting representatives of a fallen world. Believers, on the other hand, are strangers and pilgrims here.

It is not our home ...

Our citizenship is in heaven. And from there we eagerly await the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.  Philippians 3:20

When we are physically born into this world, we unintentionally become citizens of the kingdom of darkness. But when we are 'born again' by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, we become citizens of our Lord's heavenly kingdom. God delivers us from Satan's jurisdiction and reassigns our citizenship to that of His beloved Son.

For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in Whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.  Colossians 1:13-14

Christians have been transferred from darkness to light, from slavery to freedom, from guilt to forgiveness, and from the power of Satan to the power of God.

For us, there is a divine balancing act. We represent the kingdom of God and His righteousness while coexisting with non-believers. Only through the Holy Spirit can we be separate in word and deed, yet lovingly interact with the world ... ready to share the hope found in Christ.
