In order to plumb the depths of the Bible you must diligently examine the divinely inspired truths within its pages.
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
A walnut is hidden inside a hard shell, a pearl beneath the ocean waves, and gold under a mountain ... so it is with the Word of God. Its virtues must be earnestly sought after by a believer who is willing to sacrifice time and effort.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105
The Bible illuminates the path we trod, revealing where it is safe to place each step and ... where it is not. Sanctification is directly linked to our understanding and application of scripture.
For the word of God is living and powerful ... a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
MacArthur - It is the solemn responsibility of every church to solidly, immovably, and unshakably uphold the truth of God’s Word. It is the sacred, saving treasure given to sinners for their forgiveness, and to believers for their sanctification and edification. Churches that tamper with, misrepresent, depreciate, or abandon biblical truth destroy their only reason for existing.
But know this also ... when unbelievers attempt to read the Bible as if it is some ancient work of fiction inspired by the imaginations of unlearned men, its impact is thwarted by their hardened hearts.
