THE PILGRIMAGE

From the cradle to the grave, our 'pilgrimage' is the soul's spiritual passage through time and space.

Christians know the struggles associated with journeying in this fallen world's hostile environment. Though our only experience is that of being a stranger in a strange land, we are to press on by faith ... strengthened by a divinely imparted hope that there exists a heavenly home wherein our citizenship lies.

But as it is written: 'Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.' 1 Corinthians 2:9

As believers traveling through the enemy's kingdom, we are beset on all sides by evil. But, certain that our pilgrimage will end soon, we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus Christ that we might endure the onslaught.

While we wait, there are 'marching orders' for those who represent His kingdom ...

Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles (unbelievers), that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation. 1 Peter 2:11-12

Those who've put their trust in Jesus Christ experience affirmation each day that they are but pilgrims here. The Holy Spirit continually reminds us that we are not yet home but on a journey from an old city that is cursed and under threat of judgment to a celestial city where dwells our Blessed Savior.
