Every morning you should prayerfully post a sentry at the door of your heart ... Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. (Psalm 4:23)
God has already probed the depths of your unsettled and weary soul. Nothing is hidden from His eyes, therefore give Him free rein to guide your steps and strengthen your resolve ... Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. (Psalm 139:23-24)
A supernatural work that only He can accomplish needs to take place. Your corrupt heart cannot be remolded into an uncorrupted one. A second act of creation must occur, opening the way for sanctification ... Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10)
Pray from a humble state of 'transparency' and meditate upon the eternal, transcendent nature of Jesus Christ. Fill your mind with Scripture and focus on the Lord’s commands, promises, and goodness ... Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight. (Psalm 19:14)
Placing a guard at the doorway of your heart protects you from false doctrine, the temptation of sin, and that which would steal your joy.
