When your heart is broken over the futile self-absorbed lives of unrepentant loved ones ... guilt-ridden thoughts may flood your mind concerning your part in their rejection of God. You question your impact as a believer and wonder if there was something you could have said or done differently.
You grieve that your unsaved family members do not see their need for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. They may even openly mock or deny the idea that your God even exists.
You desperately try to pray for your relatives but because of a strong emotional connection, it's difficult to put the words together. You love them; you care for them; yet you may not know how to talk to the Lord about them.
The Spirit helps in our weakness. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Romans 8:26
He can take your muddled, silent heart cries and turn them into flawless petitions before the throne of God.
The Bible assures us that 'Sorrow' will not have the last word ... Our Lord has the last word. Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning. Psalm 30:5
Cling to Christ. His love for your wayward family members is more than you have believed. Lean on Him when you are overwhelmed with concerns for their eternal salvation.
May you one day proclaim ...
You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness. Psalm 30:11
Don't give up, pilgrim.
