In a single verse of Scripture, Paul offers one of the most memorable statements in the entire Bible ...
For me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Philippians 1:21
'To live is Christ' ... When Jesus' life flows through us, we experience peace, joy, and hope; regardless of circumstance.
'To die is gain' ... A believer doesn't live in fear of death. He holds onto the promise of being ushered into his eternal home that day.
Paul saw his life inextricably bound up in Jesus Christ ...
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20
1. He knew Him - I consider everything a loss in comparison with the superior value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. Philippians 3:8
2. He depended on Him - I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ has not accomplished through me. Romans 15:18
3. His sole mission was to glorify Him - Him we proclaim, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man mature in Christ. Colossians 1:28
Paul set the bar high with his declaration ... 'to live is Christ, and to die is gain'. This verse should ring in the heart and mind of every born-again believer as we face the hardships of this life.
Seek that 'Christ-centered' walk of faith, pilgrim.
