The 'prosperity gospel' teaches that physical health and material wealth are the right of every Christian. I contend that this doctrine is exploitive, manipulative, and fundamentally wicked.
In this false teaching, God becomes nothing more than 'a means to an end'. The so-called 'law of positive confession' places the will of man above the will of God. Believers are encouraged to demand whatever they want from God, and God is obligated to deliver.
It's a trap. Advocates of this wayward theology tend to be arrogant, selfish, and without compassion. They believe that poverty or ill health results from one's failure to follow their misapplied rules on 'sowing and reaping'.
When we study the Word of God, the truth concerning these false precepts is revealed ...
No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. Matthew 6:24
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven ... Mathew 6:19-20
There is great gain in godliness with contentment; for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world; but if we have food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and hurtful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. 1 Timothy 6:6-9
We witness many of today's mega-churches and televangelists openly promoting this 'prosperity gospel'. This neo-Pentacostal movement has been growing rapidly in these last days.
Know this ... It is a perversion of the Gospel of Jesus Christ; centering not on our Lord but on man's insatiable desire to acquire material wealth and comfort.
Steer clear.
