THE SINNER'S PAYDAY

According to prophecy, there is an hour when divine retribution will fall upon those who reject the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His gift of salvation. They will earn the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the Glory of His power. (2 Thessalonians 1:9)

Little wonder that the ungodly would rather this event be the figment of an active imagination than a 'certain-to-be-fulfilled' promise ...

Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? 2 Peter 3:3

Their rhetorical question about the return of Christ is not a heartfelt desire to know the truth ... but an attempt to challenge it. They mock any reference to the second coming and impending judgment.

The thing that causes men to cast aside the biblical account of Jesus' second advent is His 'delay' (when this is actually a loving gesture on God's part) ...

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9

Judgment may appear to come slowly, but make no mistake; it will grind everything that has raised its fist at God to powder. His vengeance loiters now so that it might commune with mercy ... but it will suddenly make up for its lingering.

There is coming a final 'reckoning'. How you are judged is up to you ...

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

The only way for a man or woman to escape a 'sinner's payday' is to accept the gift of God. Acknowledge Jesus Christ's death, burial, and resurrection as the atonement for your sin and surrender to His Lordship.
