NOWHERE TO HIDE

Regarding your personal life ... the world only sees what you allow it to see. Since it is difficult for the finite mind to comprehend 'omniscience', you may have assumed that God also has limited access to the things you carefully store out of view.

But the Lord is cognizant of everything ...

You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Psalm 139:1-3

And try as you might, you cannot escape the Lord's presence. Death, distance, and darkness ... all fail to provide a refuge.

1. Death cannot hide you (even if you take your own life) ... Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead), behold, You are there. Psalm 139:7-8

2. Distance cannot hide you ... If I take the wings of the dawn, If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, even there Your hand will lead me, and Your right hand will take hold of me. Psalm 139:9-10

3. Darkness cannot hide you ... If I say, “Surely the darkness will cover me, And the night will be the only light around me,” Even the darkness is not dark to You and conceals nothing from You, but the night shines as bright as the day; darkness and light are alike to You. Psalm 139:11-12

And know this also ... It is futile to run from God when you have sinned.

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. Hebrews 4:13

The good news is that you cannot hide from God's love either ...

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

How many years have you spent trying to run or hide from God? Give up the fight, sojourner ... the Lord desires that you trust Him with everything, especially the stuff that causes you to feel shame. If you are a believer in Christ's atoning sacrifice, you can approach the throne of grace with confidence.
