Today's reprobate world has arbitrarily rejected the idea of God. Men refuse to believe in an infinitely-powerful, everywhere-present, all-knowing Creator of the universe. If mentioned at all, He is relegated to a slanderous curse word. Scripture makes a brief yet poignant statement concerning those who dismiss the Lord ...
The fool says in his heart, “There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good. Psalm 14:1
This is certainly a sad state of affairs but there is an even more troubling 'end-time' manifestation ... those who 'hold to a form of religion but deny the power thereof' (2 Timothy 3:5)
In other words, their conduct nullifies their claim of faith.
We live in a country where Bibles grace the nightstands of untold millions of households, yet there remains an alarming ignorance of its content. God is spoken of in a casual and flippant manner by those who claim to know Him ... there is so little awe, so little worship, so little reverence for the Most High.
Pseudo-Christians don't possess a proper understanding of God 's holiness. They treat Him more like a 'buddy' than a King. Men use the word 'Lord' thoughtlessly and actually think of Christ as a 'figurehead' ... not a Sovereign Ruler and Second Person of the Trinity.
In today's pews are congregants who profess the name of Jesus yet have a reckless attitude toward sin. Full of self-confidence ... their seared conscience seldom bothers them.
"I'm saved by grace" they cry, "I don't have to worry about sin anymore."
It is true that 'the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin' (1 John 1:7) ... but the impression that 'sin is no big deal' is an egocentric, nonchalant disregard of the price paid on Calvary's cross. A frivolous opinion of sin results in a frivolous opinion of the Savior.
We are admonished to ... Work out our salvation with fear and trembling. (Philippians 2:12)
Contend for the faith, pilgrim. Employ serious caution and critical self-evaluation to avoid anything that might offend God or discredit the name of Christ.
