FOOL'S GOLD

Pyrite is a mineral that is similar to gold in appearance; often nicknamed 'fool’s gold'. If you take the time to examine it closely and test it against the real thing, it will be exposed for what it is ... a deceptive counterfeit.

This is a picture of what we must do in these end times to protect ourselves from the attractive but misguided theological doctrines of men.

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1

In this age of open-minded 'believe-ism', people will accept just about anything that sounds right and appeals to their carnal nature. Millions fall prey to the manufactured tenets of world religions, oppressive cults ... and today's 'off-the-rails' churches that use the name of Christ wrongly.

The truth found in the Word of God is the 'gold standard' by which we will be judged ...

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

As followers of Christ, we are called to carefully sift through every religious teaching brought before us to determine whether it is a 'treasure' or 'fool's gold'. Is it a brittle legalistic 'alloy' or a 'gold nugget' of truth meant for our edification?

Biblical discernment is key ...Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15

What makes the Gospel of Christ so powerful is that it doesn't come from our opinion of God but from the Lord's understanding of our undone condition ... apart from the 'gift' of salvation, atonement for sin is impossible. All false religions require performance in a vain attempt to appease their god.

Restoration comes through Calvary's cross. Jesus avowed ... I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by Me. (John 14:6)

By grace through faith, your sins are forgiven. As you grow and change know that it is not what 'you' do that merits a relationship with the Father ... it is what Jesus has done 'for' you and 'in' you.

That is 'real' gold.
