EARTHEN VESSELS

The term 'earthen vessel' is a figurative description of a believer's physical body. Into this fragile jar of clay, the Lord pours His Spirit ...

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

We become the means by which the Gospel of Jesus Christ is brought before a lost and dying world. God chose to link our human weakness with His divine power so that He alone receives the glory ...

We have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. 2 Corinthians 4:7

The 'treasure' is the wonderful news of our Father's love and His Son's willingness to pay a debt He did not owe.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

The Lord is the power behind the message. We understand that He is the source of life ... all the attention must be on the treasure, not the vessel.

So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth. 1 Corinthians 3:7

God has chosen to use your frail, broken, imperfect body as His conduit to deliver 'good news'. Don't be faint-hearted, pilgrim. He promises that ... My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness. (2 Corinthians 12:9)
