GOD IS NOT A MAN

Not only is our old nature given to 'wilful sin' ... we also carry about 'unintended mistakes'. Whether they are inconsequential or disastrous, we are all well-acquainted with making them.

Since a life of 'indiscretion' is what we're familiar with, there is a tendency to think of God that way. In a desperate attempt to relate to our Creator, we subconsciously bring Him down to our level (instead of being elevated to His).

We must not attach our 'mistake-prone' character to God's divine one. He is on all accounts 'mistake-free' ...

1. God's majesty is infinite: Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom. (Psalm 145:3) With even one mistake, His greatness would be compromised, quantifiable, and finite.

2. God’s ability to do all things and comprehend all matters prevents Him from ever making a mistake: Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit. (Psalm 147:5) Incomplete knowledge is what leads to error.

3. God experiences no 'afterthoughts': God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. (Numbers 23:19) The Lord never makes a decree that He must later annul because He didn't consider all the consequences.

4. God has 'never' made a mistake: Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure. (Isaiah 46:9-10). He has had a purpose in everything, and outcomes are no surprise to Him.

Certain experiences and conditions might make you wonder if God has miscalculated your situation. The Lord has a good, loving reason for everything ...

All things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28

Not only is there no fault in our God, there is no fault in His Son. Jesus never had a sinful thought, uttered a sinful word, or committed a sinful deed. Satan was desperate to reveal even one mistake in Christ's life ... but failed. Your salvation depends upon Jesus being the 'spotless' Lamb of God.

Praise the Lord that He is perfect in every way. Your faith in Him is well-placed.
