Many think that salvation began when they heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ and surrendered their life to His Lordship. But that is not where it started. It was God who kickstarted your faith through the convicting power of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus said ... No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day. (John 6:44)
Then, after receiving the gift of salvation, 'faith' is meted out in varying degrees ... For by the grace given to me, I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. (Romans 12:3)
Each of us is equipped to serve God in a specific way ... For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them. (Romans 12:4-5)
Paul's admonition to the early church ... If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully. (Romans 12:6-8)
Be thankful for the gifts that others possess, understanding that they are a vital part of the body. No one should consider their role as more important (or less important) than another's ... If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. (1 Corinthians 12:26)
MacArthur - Every believer receives the exact gift and resources best suited to fulfill his role in the body of Christ… every person has his own special but limited set of capabilities. Trying to operate outside those capabilities produces frustration, discouragement, guilt feelings, mediocrity, and ultimate defeat. We fulfill our calling when we function according to God’s sovereign design for us.
The 'measure of faith' specific to your spiritual journey is the only lens through which you are to appraise it. God is the Author and Finisher.
