The name 'Jesus' is the Greek form of the Hebrew word Yeshua, which means salvation'. Hamashiach stands for ... 'the anointed one' or 'Messiah' (translated as 'Christ' in the Greek).
Together, they refer to the One chosen by God to save His people. The Old Testament has more than three hundred prophecies concerning Israel's coming Deliverer. Jesus fulfilled every one of them, thus deserving the title ... 'Yeshua Hamaschiach'.
However, He did not come for the Jews only. Christ offers forgiveness and salvation to everyone who calls upon His name ... For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
Surrounding His throne for all eternity will be those from ... every nation, tribe, and tongue. (Revelation 7:9)
This is a poignant reminder that all people are precious to God. No race, ethnicity, or background is exempt from His love ... There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:28)
The Lord is not put off by the unique titles that each language uses for Him. He knows your heart, pilgrim. The power is not in the 'moniker' you use ... but in the Person to whom it refers.
