There is an ominous warning for believers who live in the days leading up to Jesus' triumphant return ...
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. (Matthew 24:24)
'Religion' has become Satan's weapon of choice in the fight for men's souls. We are witnessing a fraudulent 'Christianity' captivate those who would fall prey to seducing spirits. According to Scripture, false theology will appear 'trustworthy' because of accompanying 'signs and wonders'.
Demonic forces will have the ability to perform supernatural acts through these 'false prophets'. But they are works of deception ... not demonstrations of the true power of God.
The enemy hopes to ensnare even those chosen by God (the very elect). But the parenthetical phrase 'if it were possible' strongly points to the fact that our salvation is not tenuous.
Jesus ensured ... I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of My Father’s hand.
This 'end-time deception' is strong, the miracles seem real, and the intent is to mislead everyone ... including the elect.
But God's grace will prevail; the chosen ones will not be drawn away ...
His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable, undefiled, and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. (1 Peter 1:3-5)
All who are in Christ have been predestined, called, justified, and will one day ... be glorified.
