The Lord has not left us to our own devices when it comes to living the Christian life. It is His 'faithfulness' that underpins every aspect of our spiritual journey. Paul's benediction to the early church remains our encouragement today ...
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it. (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24)
In the original Greek, the term 'faithful' means ... reliable or trustworthy. God's ongoing affection for (and allegiance to) His children is an unbreakable bond.
We are called to live above reproach ... I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. (Romans 12:1)
But the God who demands holiness also provides the means ... being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1:6)
He is our Potter. We are the 'clay' that He is molding into the likeness of His Son. Rest in the knowledge that His hands are sure and His work is flawless ... confirming you to the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord. (1 Corinthians 1:8)
When we feel weak and discouraged ... Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. (Hebrews 10:23)
