LIBERTY

Jesus Christ started His earthly ministry by opening the scroll of Isaiah and reading aloud this passage ...

The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord. (Luke 4:18-19)

Paul confirms it ... Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. (2 Corinthians 3:17)

Jesus promises it ... If the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. (John 8:36)

It is 'liberty' that lovingly beckons you to come to Christ. It represents a fresh start and rest for your weary soul. When you breathe it in, a 'peace that passes understanding' is yours ... For sin will no longer be a master over you, since you are not under Law, but under grace. (Romans 6:14)

We must guard it ... Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1)

The ultimate 'liberty' is freedom from the consequences of a sin-laden life ... For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made us free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:2)

When you receive the gift of salvation, the crushing weight of eternal judgment is lifted from your life.

But understand that 'freedom in Christ' is not the right to do as you please ... but the power to please Him by doing what is right.
