Scripture warns that vacillating faith is worse than no faith at all.
Of the churches examined in the book of Revelation, none fared more poorly than the one in Laodicea ... I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of my mouth. (Revelation 3:15-16)
Inconsistent religious conviction is more damaging than having no conviction.
A lost person can still be found. But those who know what took place on Calvary's cross, yet are 'half-hearted' when it comes to living in its shadow, are numb to their wayward spiritual condition ... A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways. (James 1:8)
Clinging to what this world has to offer while claiming to know Jesus as Lord is the 'sort of in, sort of out' type of faith that He spews out of His mouth. Christ is looking for believers who will follow hard after Him (unwavering and tireless in their pursuit).
They unashamedly bear this testimony ... I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20)
So you have three options ... live for Jesus, live for the world, or vacillate somewhere in between.
Only one is acceptable in God's sight.
Make your election sure.
