HOPE DEFERRED

When expectations are delayed or suspended, we experience disappointment ... which can lead to disillusionment ... and eventually, abject resignation.

Solomon compared 'waiting' to a lingering ailment ... Hope deferred makes the heart sick. (Proverbs 13:12)

It's as if prayers go no further than the ceiling. Even our most sincere, selfless supplications seem to go unanswered, and in desperation, we want to cry out with King David ... How long, Lord? Will You hide Yourself forever? (Psalm 89:46)

Year after year, you've been praying for those who are suffering, those in harm's way, and those in need of salvation ... often to no avail.

Though your soul aches, don't give up ... God hears your heartfelt petitions.

He is in the process of doing an 'inner' work ... but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life. A longing fulfilled is sweet to the soul. (Proverbs 13:12,19)

It is an opportunity to trust in the Lord's omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent oversight ... If we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently. (Romans 8:25)

Unfulfilled desires can actually lead to a rich encounter with our Savior ... The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. (Lamentations 3:25)

'Hope deferred' is never 'hope forsaken' for those who truly know Christ as Lord ... Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. (Romans 5:5)

Pray without ceasing.
