Many believe that there is a 'good vs bad' scale on which life is measured. But the Bible teaches that 'sinless perfection' is God's standard when judgment comes.
Nothing we do in our own strength can make up for the sin that plagues this earthbound existence ... All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags. (Isaiah 64:6)
For every saved soul, the Lord becomes a 'freedom fighter' ... knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. (Romans 6:6)
When Paul lamented over the tendencies of his flesh, he cried out ... O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? (Romans 7:24)
He then answered his own question ... Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! (Romans 7:25)
Every day we face a choice.
We either allow our old nature to justify succumbing to temptation ... or rely on God's power to resist it.
