We live in desperately dark and unstable times. The evil of these last days causes us to cringe with every act of depravity we witness. Fear can grip one's soul if we allow ourselves to be swept along in this unrelenting current of blatant immorality.
Christians must remember that they are not without an Anchor.
Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two immutable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our Forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. Hebrews 6:17-20
F B Hole - His Word and His Oath are the two immutable things. They never change, never shift, and are never shaken. Never, never, NEVER, will He fail in any promise He has given, in anything which He has said that He will do.
If we by faith trust in the promises of God, fears will be assuaged. During life's raging tempests the Anchor offers us absolute stability, for it is grounded in the completed work of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
MacDonald - The knowledge that our glorification is as certain as if it had already happened keeps us from drifting on the wild waves of doubt and despair. The anchor is not cast in the shifting sands of this world but takes hold in the heavenly sanctuary. Our hope is secured in God’s very presence behind the veil. As sure as that anchor is there, we shall be there also.
Jesus became our Forerunner which guarantees that we, as 'after-runners', will go to where He is. Christ ever lives to carry us through ... He is both our Great High Priest and the King of Glory.
Let the peace you experience in these troubled times send a hopeful message to a lost and dying world.
