The Lord is ever present to console His children; when your heart is broken with the trials of this life ... He is the 'God of all comfort'.
In the Bible, 'comfort' is translated from the word, paraklesis. 'Para' means 'alongside' or 'near', and 'kaleo' means 'to call'. It is the act of coming alongside someone to encourage, exhort, and give comfort in times of distress.
Believers are comforted by a Great Shepherd - Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4
... comforted by a Loving Lord - May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant. Psalm 119:76
... comforted by the Holy Spirit - But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:26
... comforted by the Word of God - For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Romans 15:4
... and comforted by the Heavenly Father - Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; 2 Corinthians 1:3
He doesn't necessarily eliminate the source of our discomfort but God will always make His presence known and carry us through.
The Lord is firmly at your side, pilgrim.
