EVERY HOUR I NEED THEE

There are times when you may be overwhelmed by life and your mind slips into 'crisis mode'. You might be so conflicted inside that prayer becomes difficult and a desperate heartfelt groan is all that you can offer ... or maybe an unembellished "I NEED YOU" falls from trembling lips as you humbly bow before the throne.

The Word of God assures us that His ear is always open to our supplications. When we learn to abide in Him moment by moment, the trials we encounter can be quickly surrendered to His Lordship. There is an open communion available that keeps our feet on solid ground. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 confirms that we can ... Pray without ceasing. 

Annie Hawks (May 28, 1836 - January 3, 1918) was an American poet and gospel hymnist. In 1872, she penned the lyrics for "I Need Thee Every Hour". It is said to have been translated into more foreign languages than any other song at the time.

When I am troubled, this beautiful hymn arrives and plays quietly in the background of my mind. And ... if I sing it as a prayer, I am ushered into the Lord's presence. My unvarnished life is laid before Him and I experience the love of my heavenly Father. He listens to my heart and reassures me that in my weakness He is strong. 

Speak to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;  Ephesians 5:19

'I Need Thee Every Hour' has served as a fragrant balm for my soul, reminding me that God's faithfulness to His children is without restraint and continues unabated. 

He promises ... I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Hebrews 13:5

God wants you to need Him. Don’t only seek the Lord when hardships come ... always seek Him.
