THE KINDNESS OF GOD

The word 'kindness' in scripture is often used to reveal the divine attribute and loving disposition of God. It is a critical component of how our salvation came to be offered ...

For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior  Titus 3:3-6

The world does not think of God as being 'kind'. Instead of recognizing His gracious provision, considerable patience, and undeserved mercy ... they accuse Him of being distant, angry, and unloving. In their eyes, dictatorial intolerance defines His character. Because of this depiction, many choose to believe there is no God at all.

The 'forgiven' know otherwise ...

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:4-7

Even God’s strict requirements and just disciplines must be seen in the context of His 'kindness'; it is intended to lead people to repentance so that they might experience the forgiveness wrought in Christ.

Grace accompanies His every thought and action.

'Kindness' is also listed as a fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23When we walk therein, the very heart of our Heavenly Father is put on display before a lost and dying world.
