THREE PHASES OF SALVATION

The Word of God reveals that Salvation has 'past, present, and future' elements ...

Justification is the foundation upon which Salvation is built. It represents the 'past tense' of a threefold process. For by grace, you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God. 'Justification' is much more than the forgiveness of our sins; it means that we have been declared righteous in the eyes of God. The conditions for being 'justified' are ... faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ and the surrendering of one's life to His Lordship.

Sanctification is the 'present tense' of Salvation, a process that begins with the 'new birth' and continues throughout our life on earth. Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 'Sanctification' is what God initiates in us through the Holy Spirit, but we still play a part through acts of obedience. Work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. We are spiritually matured into Christ's likeness.

Glorification is the 'future tense' of Salvation. When we finally pass into eternity, our transformation will have been completed. Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him. Until that day, we are to 'glorify' Jesus Christ as the Son of God and Savior of the world.

Simply put ... Justification saves you from the 'penalty' of sin, Sanctification saves you from the 'power' of sin, and Glorification saves you from the 'presence' of sin.
