It is amazing to see how slavishly demanding today's false religions can be. Cultish assemblies such as Jehovah's Witnesses, LDS/Mormons, and Seventh Day Adventists, (among others) ... create deep trenches of self-serving disciplines into which unsuspecting devotees fall headlong.
Some 'mainline' denominations are not exempt, for they have drifted far from the fundamental truths found in Scripture ... 'teaching for doctrines the commandments of men'.
Reversing God's divine priorities, they've substituted small outward acts of 'piety' for the more essential obligations of the heart.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel. Matthew 23:23-24
Neglecting 'weightier matters' to emphasize less meaningful rituals, indicates that one's spirit is not lined up with the Lord's requirements for a life well-lived.
He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8
What we are inwardly, is all that counts. Obedience to obligatory rules may create a clean facade, but the inside remains filthy. The so-called righteousness displayed by a 'false faith' is like dressing up a dead body ... it is only for show.
And be found in Him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: Philippians 3:9
If you are in Christ, your priorities will align with His and the trappings of religion will not hinder your journey of faith.
Don't complicate your relationship with God by 'majoring on the minors'.
