In order for your soul to experience redemption, you must surrender the entirety of your life to the Lord. Salvation is a 'gift', it's true ... yet it costs you everything.
Submit yourselves therefore to God. James 4:7
Not only must we hoist the 'white flag' in order to receive Christ's payment for sin ... a daily surrender of our latent prideful nature must follow. As believers, we are to submit to the will of God in vigorous pursuit of truth and righteousness.
And he said to them all If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. Luke 9:23
To experience the fullness of God's presence in our lives, it is essential that we have a heart that continually says, 'Not my will, but Thine be done'.
Spurgeon - Who ought to rule in the house but the Father? Who should govern in the body but the Head? Who should lead the flock but the Shepherd? Submit, then, my brethren. Beseech the Holy Spirit to bow your will to complete subjection. You will never be happy till 'self' is dethroned.
If you are lost, you may ask ... 'What must I do to be saved?'
Throw down your weapons of rebellion and end this futile war. Surrender your life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, then give yourself to the study of God's Word ...
Does it hold out hope? Grasp it.
