It is altogether fixed upon the object of its devotion, specifically God Himself. It is not fractured in its focus, nor mixed with extraneous feelings or discordant intentions. The undivided heart has spiritual 'tunnel vision'.
A divine 'transplant' takes place at one's conversion. The Lord delivers the 'rebirth' that enables God's people to follow Him 'wholeheartedly'.
I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 11:19
This new heart assures our 'position', but may not always describe our 'practice'. We must learn to relinquish all vestiges of self-reliance and daily rely on the Holy Spirit's sanctifying power.
Spurgeon - Having taught me one way, give me one heart to walk therein, for too often I feel 'a heart and a heart', two natures contending, two principles struggling for sovereignty. Our minds are apt to be divided between a variety of objects, like trickling streamlets that waste their force in a hundred rivulets. Our great desire should be to have all our life floods poured into one channel and to have that channel directed toward the Lord Alone.
In this evil day and age, we are continually bombarded by that which seeks to derail us spiritually. There exists an ever-present temptation to have one foot in the truth of God's Word and the other in this sin-laden world ... resulting in a heart divided.
For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another ... Galatians 5:17
How then do we win this battle so that we don't compromise our faith? Scripture exhorts us to ...
Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Galatians 5:16
Keep your relationship with Jesus Christ an open book and give yourself to prayer. An 'undivided heart' will unfold.
