God will suddenly and irrevocably interrupt the flow of human history someday.
He is sending His Son back into the world.
As endtime prophesies unfold before our eyes, we anticipate that His return is indeed imminent ... but the precise moment is not for us to know.
But about that day or hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. Mark 13:32-33
God has graciously withheld the date and time of Jesus' Second Coming ... otherwise, Christians would not experience the purification that it produces.
Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. 1 John 3:2-3
The unsaved world scoffs at those who confidently cling to this blessed hope. Regardless ... all true believers openly (and unashamedly) believe that Christ will return as promised.
Knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts and saying, 'Where is the promise of His coming?' 2 Peter 3:3-4.
Christians are to be faithfully busy about the Lord's assigned work ... living with anticipation that the Master might arrive at any moment.
It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming - in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning - lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch! Mark 13:32-37
God has given us the great task of making our spiritual pilgrimage fit for Him to see when He returns. A believer's sole motivation for life should be his preparedness to meet the King of Glory ... face to face.
