WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME ?

If you earnestly desire to bring honor to Christ, surrender all that you are ... to all that He is. Any latent self-centeredness that subtly asks 'What's in it for me?' must be left behind.

Spurgeon - My faith rests not upon what I am, or shall be, or feel, or know, but in what Christ is, in what He has done, and in what He is now doing for me.

We should be overwhelmed by what Jesus did for us. He is our Treasured Redeemer, worthy to be praised and worshipped with every fiber of our being. Egocentricity cannot exist where Christ is Lord.

For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Philippians 1:21

Spurgeon - The highest stage of man is to have no wish, no thought, no desire but that of Christ ... to feel that to die were bliss if it were for Him; that it does not matter what becomes of one's self, as long as the Master is exalted,

True Christians readily accept that they have no 'rights'. We become 'slaves to righteousness'.

Ye are not your own ... ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Any pondering of 'What do I want' has no place in the life of a believer. Your entire focus is to be upon 'Christ in you, the hope of Glory' ...

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20

A person who approaches Christianity with a 'what’s-in-it-for-me' attitude ultimately loses everything that the 'surrendered' man of God will humbly receive.
