One of two 'masters' rules over a man's life.
Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death or of obedience leading to righteousness? Romans 6:16
Enslavement is binding and forbids divided allegiance. When you attempt to live as a Christian but remain under sin's control ... something's got to give.
Having a healthy relationship with the Lord is impossible when ensnared by iniquity's controlling grip. The ground on which you stand is unstable and your knees buckle time and time again. Your 'sin-sick' life is characterized by the unrelenting 'spiritual nausea' associated with a tormented, conflicted mind.
Deliverance from sin's strong arm comes through faith in Jesus Christ. He was not only there when you trusted Him for salvation, but remains the ever-present source for a life of obedience. If you abide in His presence chains are broken.
The battle you face each day is not over 'behavior'. It doesn't matter what you did or how many times you did it. Acts of iniquity are but symptoms of something greater. This war is actually being waged for your 'fidelity' ... to whom will you be enslaved.
The only way that sin loses its power is when you surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
