PROVE IT

It is imperative that the followers of Christ look closely at every guiding influence that portrays itself as 'God-given'. 

Each intermittent wave of spiritual teaching and religious precept that crashes upon the shore of your faith (no matter how logical, no matter how relevant, and no matter how inspired it appears to be) ... must line up with Scripture.

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15

When something is offered for your edification, it is vitally important to test it. All churches, all ministers, all teaching, all preaching, all doctrine, all sermons, all writings, and all opinions are to be placed under a Biblical magnifying glass. 

Test everything and hold onto that which is good. 1 Thessalonians 5:21 

Measure all by the veracity of Scripture; Compare all with the standards set forth in the Bible; Weigh all on the scale of its revealed truth; Examine all in the light of the Word ... PROVE EVERYTHING. 

That which can go through the refining fire of God's Word ... receive, hold, believe, and obey. If it cannot withstand the purity of that intense heat ... reject, refuse, repudiate, and cast it away.

And by the way, pilgrim ... 

'Proving' also applies to this daily devotional. Don't read it without prayerfully considering whether or not it aligns with Scripture. My heartfelt desire is that these treatises inspire you to study the Word of God for yourself ... and that you continue to 'grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ'.
