WHO ARE WE?

If you have personally accepted Jesus Christ as Savior, your identity before God has been forever changed. The Lord recognizes His followers in four distinct ways ...

You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; (1 Peter 2:9)

1.  A Chosen Generation
True believers are set apart by God. This would never have happened if you had not been chosen in Christ and sanctified by His Spirit ... You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should remain ... (John 15:16).

2. A Royal Priesthood
Though it seems to be much too high an honor, this 'Melchizedec-type' priesthood gives us full access to the Father ... Let us, therefore, come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)

3. A Holy Nation
The Lord does not see us as a religious sect ... but as a 'nation'. We have a King to rule over us (Jesus Christ), laws to govern us (the Word of God), and a divine purpose (to glorify Him). To the 'pharisaical', Jesus proclaims ... The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. (Matthew 21:43)

4. His Own Special People
We are God's possession. His 'ownership' is emphasized throughout Scripture ... You are not your own; you were bought with a price. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

These privileges are 'positional' by nature. When the Father observes those who abide in Christ, He sees the righteousness of His Son. In times of doubt and fear, remember that you are of that chosen generation, that royal priesthood, that holy nation, and ... you forever belong to God.
