We are the fragile clay pots 'in which' the priceless treasure of the Gospel is kept, and 'from which' it is to be disseminated. God could have delivered the message of the cross through angelic beings, direct visions, or personal revelation ... yet He chose to reveal the plan of salvation through the lives of imperfect men.
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. 2 Corinthians 4:7
In His wisdom, the Lord chose to use the weakness of our earthbound flesh to display His eternal power and Godhead. Our frail human form is common to all and the Lord uses it to His advantage. The spotlight shines on the message ... not the messenger.
To be used by God in the furtherance of His Kingdom requires an 'emptying' ... a 'pouring out' of oneself to make room for Christ alone. The enticements of this world, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life are to be abandoned.
The prophesied 'end of days' is upon us and God's Spirit is moving in the heart of every true believer. We can more clearly see our destination as it appears on the horizon. The chains that bound us to this life are being broken so that we might use our remaining time for His glory.
We are going home, pilgrim.
