God has never once altered His essence, character, judgments, or promises.
I am the Lord, and I do not change. Malachi 3:6
He is the great 'I AM', the self-existent One.
He is omnipotent and omniscient.
He is infinite in wisdom; God's plans and purposes are perfect.
He has infinite awareness; nothing can ever be added or taken from it.
He does not change in time or place; He is eternal and ever-present.
The Lordship of our Savior is also unchanging ... Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8
The immutability of God is a terror to the wicked because He always deals with sin in the light of His Holiness. The Lord does not give ear to those who think they can somehow negotiate the terms of salvation. He only recognizes those who come by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
On the other hand, His immutability is a comfort to believers because it means God is always faithful to the promises found in His Word. While the entire world violently shakes, the Lord is an anchor for the soul.
God is not a man, that he should lie, Neither the son of man, that he should repent: Hath he said, and will he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and will he not make it good? Numbers 23:19
The Lord is not affected by our 'mutability'; our changes do not change Him. When we are anxious, He remains serene and calm; when we are low, selfish, or dispirited, He is 'unalterable'.
Who God truly is ... not what your restless mind 'feels' Him to be; that is where you can find the love, grace, mercy, and protection you seek.
