GOD

In Acts 17:24-28, we read Paul's message to the Athenians. He wanted them to know that God is not a lifeless idol fashioned by human hands ...

God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And He is not served by human hands, as if He needed anything.

Rather, He Himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. From one man He made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands.

God did this so that they would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from any one of us. For in Him we live and move and have our being.

1. In Him we live ... No better words express our constant dependence upon God. Every breath, every heartbeat is subject to His providential care.

2. In Him we move ... Strength comes from our absolute and continual reliance upon God. He provides the means to perform even the slightest act.

3. In Him we have our being ... Life is His gift. We would not exist apart from God's will. Every man is created by Him and it is by His hand that we are held together.

This straightforward declaration by the apostle may be more pertinent today than at any time in history. The world has replaced God with unprovable scientific theories, egocentric philosophies of men, and hedonistic materialism ...

But know this, that in the last days, perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. 2 Timothy 3:1-4

But for those who respond to the evidence that God does indeed exist, He lovingly offers the plan of salvation ... made possible through the death, burial, and resurrection of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
