IT'S NOT COMPLICATED

The Gospel of Jesus Christ offers forgiveness and eternal life to a lost and dying world. Scripture gives a straightforward, uncomplicated invitation to accept the gift of salvation.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Many of today's 'so-called' Christian churches have corrupted this life-giving proclamation by adding things that make salvation a struggle to understand and difficult to receive. They would have us believe that we must first clean ourselves up, or perform some ritualistic task, or bow the knee to the leaders of their wayward denomination.

In other words, we must 'play a part' in our own redemption. That is a lie from the pit of hell. The Word of God makes it plain that there is but one requirement ...

Whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13

This may be the sweetest, simplest, and most profound verse in the Bible. It contains four truths that bring comfort and encouragement to those seeking the Lord.

1. WHOSOEVER means 'all'. The love of God knows no exceptions. Your name can be placed there.

2. CALL means to 'cry'. It is the simplest of acts. From a soul convicted of sin and desperate for mercy ... we call upon God.

3. THE LORD ... He is the omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent Creator of the universe. Jesus alone is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

4. SAVED means 'redeemed'. Turning away from self-sufficiency and putting trust in Christ's atoning sacrifice, we have eternal security.

Jesus made sure His followers weren't tempted to add anything to the plan of salvation ... Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein. Luke 18:17

Don't complicate the salvation message (beautifully pictured in the hymn, Rock of Ages) ...

Nothing in my hands I bring, Simply to Thy cross I cling.
