THE LEDGER

Salvation occurs when you hear the Gospel message, acknowledge your need for a Savior, and surrender your sin-laden life to Christ. Your adoption into the family of God is secured ... the indwelling Holy Spirit being the surety.

But what about your embattled life as you wait for His appearing? Everything in this world is familiar to your old nature and seeks to divide your loyalty. The Lord's work of sanctification answers the call and goes about transforming you ... not by adding some new spiritual acumen, but by stripping away all that gives you a false sense of security and worth.

Every natural talent, every earned award, every human accolade, every celebrated accomplishment, no matter how praiseworthy it appears, and no matter if it was in service to others or 'for God' ... you will finally come to realize it is all worthless. Outside of 'Christ in you, the hope of glory', your life is an exercise in futility.

This is to be your testimony ...

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20

Paul expressed it this way ...

I count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but refuse, that I may gain Christ.  Philippians 3:8

When you come to the foot of the cross, everything that you place trust in must be abandoned.

There is a spiritual 'profit and loss' statement that will assess your true worth. As you are transformed into the likeness of Christ, that which you once considered valuable in the profit column is forever transferred to the loss column.

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Mark 8:36

One day your life will be 'audited' for the last time. All that should be on the profit side of the ledger is the Righteousness of Christ.

Make room for it.
