The Word of God talks of something that was figuratively nailed to the cross ...
And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Colossians 2:13-14
Many believe that it's God's law that was nailed there. But when we study this verse in context with other scripture, we find that the words 'handwriting of requirements, contrary to us', were describing the record of our sins ... an indictment that required the penalty of death. Jesus Christ gave His life so that our iniquitous thoughts, words, and deeds could be wiped out.
Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation. Colossians 1:21-22
If you are disconsolate, know that every one of your sins was charged to Jesus' account. Daily live in the shadow of Calvary's cross. When you feel the sting of past transgressions, look up and see them posted there. It is prideful to hold on to that which has been paid for at such great cost to your Messiah.
As far as the east is from the west, so far hath He removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:12
Accept the fullness of that truth and be free, pilgrim ...
