WORSHIP

An amazing story unfolded at the Sea of Galilee ...

When the disciples had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the water; and they were frightened. But He said to them, “It is I; don’t be afraid.” John 6:19-20

The disciples had just witnessed Christ feed the five thousand with a few loaves and fishes ... but it was the miracle of Jesus walking on the water that, more than any other, convinced them that He was indeed the Messiah.

Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, 'Truly you are the Son of God'. Matthew 14:33

This is the first time the disciples were said to have worshiped Jesus. It is also important to note that it was connected to their confession of Who He is.

Christ is worthy ...

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honor and glory and blessing! Revelation 5:12

Our heartfelt expressions of 'love', 'adoration', and 'reverence' ring true when we see the Lord as He is ... and ourselves as we are.

William Temple - Worship is the submission of all our nature to God. It is the quickening of conscience by His holiness; the nourishment of mind with His truth; the purifying of imagination by His beauty; the opening of the heart to His love; the surrender of will to His purpose and all this gathered up in adoration the most selfless emotion of which our nature is capable and therefore the chief remedy for that self-centeredness which is our original sin and source of all actual sin.

If your journey of faith consists of Bible study, daily prayer, and evangelistic efforts but does not have seasons of Worship ... your Christianity is more 'form' than 'substance'.
