It's Monday ...
The annual observance of Palm Sunday, Good Friday, and Easter has come and gone. In churches around the world, Jesus' victory over sin, death, and the grave was celebrated. An untold number of lost souls heard the Gospel and came to life's ultimate fork in the road ... it was their day of decision.
For those who received Christ as their personal Savior, an unfamiliar 'walk of faith' stretches out before them. The surrender that took place yesterday causes an unsteady new believer to ask ... now what?
They have been adopted into the family of God ... yet may feel self-conscious, awkward, and somewhat hesitant as they try to navigate this new landscape. Christians who are 'long in the tooth' must love, encourage, protect, and train these young ones.
1. Be a consistent positive influence ... Exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. Hebrews 3:13
2. Urge daily Bible study ... All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
3. Introduce them to a life of prayer ... Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6
4. Demonstrate true benevolence when they struggle ... Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Ephesians 4:2
5. Speak of the Holy Spirit's role ... Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
To be used by the Lord to touch the lives of new believers should be seen as an honor. God is pursuing and transforming them into the likeness of His Son and you get to witness the process.
Remember ... these precious souls are given a promise. He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: Philippians 1:6
