AN EMPTY TOMB

It is Sunday.

On the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb bringing the spices they had prepared. They found the stone rolled away from the entrance and when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.

And it happened that while they were perplexed about this, behold, two men suddenly stood near them in dazzling clothing, and when the women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living One among the dead? He is not here, but He has risen". Luke 24:1-6

Our faith in the finished work of God's Son is based on two events ...

The crucifixion of Jesus is accepted by most religions as a historical fact; but His resurrection is summarily rejected by Jews, Muslims, Hindus, and Buddhists alike.

Jesus defeated sin, death, and the grave. That is what separates true followers of Christ from those who place their faith elsewhere. The tombs of Mohammed, Buddha, and Confucius still hold (and will continue to hold) what's left of their remains.

MacArthur - Apart from the resurrection, Jesus could not have conquered sin or death or hell, and those three great evils would forever be man’s conquerors. All believers of all ages would have believed for nothing, lived for nothing, and died for nothing.

Jesus Christ's resurrection is the very source of our eternal hope ...

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. 1 Peter 1:3

No intellectual scholar who was bent on disproving the resurrection of Jesus Christ has ever been able to explain away an 'empty tomb'. Historical records show that hundreds of men and women witnessed the astounding events of that time. Many chose to be martyred rather than deny their risen Savior.

We have this promise ...

I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he dies, yet shall he live. John 11:25

His victory is our victory.
