BEYOND MEASURE

From the first page to the last, the Bible reveals the transcendent nature of our Lord, It is an astounding exposition that focuses on His divine love. The very idea that a Holy God has made provision for sin to be forgiven, is wonderful beyond measure ...

As far as the East is from the West, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:12

The phrase 'as far as the East is from the West' conveys an infinite distance. There is a reason the Psalmist did not use 'North from South'. You can travel north only so far before you're forced to travel south again because they meet at the poles.

East and West never meet ...

No matter how far you travel east, you can never reach a point where your next step is westward. It is a beautiful picture of how thorough Christ's redemptive act was in expunging a believer's sin debt.

I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions, for My own sake, and remembers your sins no more. Isaiah 43:25

There is another direction mentioned  ...

For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear and worship Him [with awe-filled respect and deepest reverence]. Psalm 103:11

This is another statement that represents a distance 'incalculable' by any human reasoning. No matter how far 'up' you go, outdistancing God’s love is virtually impossible.

In your love You kept me from the pit of destruction; You have put all my sins behind your back. Isaiah 38:17

The Gospel message is all about our Savior's sacrifice on Calvary's cross, which frees us from the guilt and shame associated with iniquity ...

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1

When you receive Christ as Savior, there is complete and utter forgiveness. You will never be held accountable again.

Though Scripture says that God does not 'remember' your sin, we understand that He remains omniscient. He knows everything and forgets nothing. Therefore, it is out of His great love for you that the Lord chooses not to recall your sin.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

God purifies us and moves on, never holding the dark shadow of sin over those who have placed their trust in Him. His only desire is that we experience the 'newness of life' found in His Son.
