MORTALITY

Everyone's earthly life is subject to physical death because of 'the fall'. When Adam's disobedience to God's command took place in the Garden of Eden, the 'flood gates' opened.

The 'sin nature' took root and mankind's mortality became the inescapable curse ..Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned. (Romans 5:12)

Death and dying are uncomfortable subjects, particularly when it comes to one’s own demise. Many go through life never giving serious thought to it until a serious illness, the loss of a loved one, or some other jarring event confronts them with the reality that one day they too ... will die

For death is the end of every man, and the living will take it to heart and solemnly ponder its meaning. Ecclesiastes 7:2

According to Scripture, physical death is not the end of your existence. When the body dies, the soul is instantly transferred to an eternal dwelling place. There are but two destinations ... heaven and hell.

If you've placed your faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, you are ushered to a place of comfort and rest. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5:3)

Those who've rejected Jesus Christ’s sacrifice for sin (or trust in something other than the grace of God to save them) will enter a place of torment. Except ye be converted, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:3)

How do you make sure you are ready?

Billy Graham - More important than setting our house in order, is setting our soul in order and placing it in the eternal care of God. Someone has said that death is not a period, but a comma in the story of life. The Bible tells us plainly, “Prepare to meet thy God". Sooner or later, we will all face death, and we should be making preparations while we are living.

Put your trust in Jesus Christ for salvation and you won't have cause to fear death. Assurance and confidence are yours for the claiming ...

We are people of flesh and blood. This is why Jesus became one of us. He died to destroy the devil, who had power over death. But He also died to rescue all of us who live each day in fear of dying. Hebrews 2:14-15

The 'sting' of death is removed because we know where we are going. Our mortal bodies will be transformed into immortal ones that will live with Christ in God’s eternal kingdom.

When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” 1 Corinthians 15:54-55

Are your affairs in order?
