Endurance is not just a 'doleful resignation' to that which we must go through for the sake of Christ. It is instead 'bold steadfastness' ... spurred on by the hope of His soon return.
You need endurance so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised. For yet in a very little while, He who is coming will come, and will not delay. Hebrews 10:36-37
To spiritually 'endure' is to be resolute and unflinching. Surrendering to circumstances or succumbing under pressure is unacceptable to those who love the Lord. They possess a 'forward look'; the ability to focus on what is beyond the cost of their discipleship.
Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2
Spurgeon - Ours is a trifling cross, compared with that which pressed Him down ... but He endured it. He took it up willingly and carried it patiently. He never rebelled against it and never relinquished it. He bore the cross until the cross bore Him.
When you surrender to His Lordship, Christ gives you that same endurance.
Persevere, run, fight, be alert, be strengthened, don’t drift, don’t neglect, don’t be sluggish, don’t take your salvation for granted. The only proof that you actually have 'living, saving faith' is if it holds fast until the end.
