A SENSE OF URGENCY

Procrastination is defined as 'willfully delaying something important to a later time'.

We are living in the prophesied 'last days' and neglecting one's duty as a representative of Jesus Christ can have eternal consequences. Time is short and sharing the Gospel with those who are lost is vitally important now.

A sense of urgency is in the air ... Be ready because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. (Luke 12:40)

The believer's marching orders ... Be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, and fulfill your ministry. Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you. (2 Timothy 4:5, 1 Timothy 4:15-16)

Upon hearing the Gospel, people may see that they need to receive Christ as Savior yet decide to put off the decision. Warn them that it is dangerous to delay because 'later' could be 'too late' ... Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring forth. (Proverbs 27:1)

We are to urge the unsaved that now is the right time ... Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your heart. (Hebrews 3:15

All actions flow from the posture of one's heart. When we make 'diligence' the common ingredient in everything we do, we set a standard for our walk of faith that produces fruit.

If we instead choose to live out our faith with no sense of urgency, chronic 'procrastination' can gain a foothold ... and the lost go unwarned of the judgment to come.
