IT IS A PROGRESSION

The following passage reveals the past, present, and future aspects of salvation ... 

For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He did predestinate, them He also called: and whom He called, them He also justified: and whom He justified, them He also glorified. Romans 8:29-30 

1. Our salvation is secure because God originated it. He 'foreknew' us  ... Being predestinated according to the purpose of Him who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will. (Ephesians 1:11)

2. Our salvation is secure because God affected it. He 'called' us ... All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. (John 6:37)

3. Our salvation is secure because God gifted it. He 'justified' us ... Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people. (Romans 5:18)

4. Our salvation is secure because God will complete it. He 'glorifies' us ... I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. (Romans 8:18)

This progression is wonderfully reassuring when we realize that every step of the way is in God's hand and not our own ...
